Kupu is a nonprofit organization that partners with over 170 organizations each year to host environmental stewardship and education programs. Kupu opportunities span from the high school to professional level, all with the common goal to empower participants to serve their communities and environment.
About the Conservation Leadership Development Program (CLDP):
The Kupu Conservation Leadership Development Program is an AmeriCorps program, designed to provide members with the skills, experience, network, and mentorship needed to succeed in the field of conservation.
Members are matched with one of CLDP’s many diverse Host Sites across the Pacific, where they will gain valuable experience in areas such as native plant and wildlife conservation, outreach, forestry, and more!
Position Overview:
- Location options: Hawaiʻi Island, Kauaʻi, Maui, Molokaʻi, Oʻahu, Guam, American Samoa, CNMI Saipan and Rota
- Position options: 40 hours per week for a 6 or 11 month term
- High School Diploma (or equivalent) required
- Conservation-related education, volunteer, and/or work experience is desired, but not required
Narrative of Duties:
Conservation initiatives and duties vary depending on the host site in which the member is placed, ranging from invasive species removal and native habitat restoration to outreach and education. Members will gain valuable professional experience within the natural resource management field as well as networking opportunities with leading conservation professionals. Most importantly, members will have the opportunity to serve and restore some of our most precious natural areas and resources here in the Pacific Islands.

Through a comprehensive application and interview process, Kupu ensures that each participant is placed with a Host Site that aligns with their passions and goals. By applying to the CLDP, you could serve with one of these organizations!
