What are the NSF Year-Long Undergraduate Research Opportunities?

These programs are a paid STEM Research Experience for Undergraduates (REU) funded by the National Science Foundation. Selected students will conduct a year-long scientific research project in the marine and environmental sciences.

Who is eligible to apply?

Undergraduate students interested in STEM that are currently enrolled at the University of Guam or Guam Community College. Pacific Islanders, women, LGBTQIA+, and other traditionally underrepresented minority groups in STEM disciplines are encouraged to apply.

What benefits do fellows receive?

If selected, you will receive: 

  • a $500 monthly stipend,
  • comprehensive research and outreach training,
  • faculty and near-peer mentorship,
  • and potential travel opportunities to present research project at an off-island conference.
