  • Rangel FellowshipThe Rangel Graduate Fellowship is a program that aims to attract and prepare outstanding young people for careers in the Foreign Service of the U.S. Department of State in which they can help formulate, represent, and implement U.S. foreign policy. The Rangel Program selects outstanding Rangel Fellows annually in a highly competitive nationwide process and supports them through two years of graduate study, internships, mentoring, and professional development activities.
  • Pickering FellowshipThe Thomas R. Pickering Foreign Affairs Graduate Fellowship Program attracts and prepares outstanding young people for Foreign Service careers in the U.S. Department of State. The program is funded by the U.S. Department of State and is collaboratively administered by Howard University and the Bureau of Global Talent Management via a cooperative agreement.
  • Foreign Affairs Information Technology (FAIT)The Foreign Affairs Information Technology Fellowship is designed for highly talented individuals who want to pursue an IT-related bachelor’s or master’s degree as a Foreign Service Information Management Specialist (IMS), supporting diplomacy through technology around the world .
  • Clarke Diplomatic Security Fellowship (Clarke DS)The William D. Clarke, Sr. Diplomatic Security Fellowship is a two-year graduate fellowship designed for individuals who want to pursue a master’s degree and a career in Diplomatic Security Service (DSS) Special Agent in the Foreign Service. DSS Special Agents are sworn federal law enforcement officers, responsible for the security of Foreign Service Personnel, property, and sensitive information around the world.

  • US Foreign Service Internship Program
    Background: Established in 2014, the US Foreign Service Internship Program (USFSIP) is a merit and need-based opportunity that offers two paid summer internships to expose undergraduate students to US Diplomacy and the work of the US Department of State.   • Foreign Service Officer – The mission of a U.S. diplomat in the Foreign Service is to promote peace, support prosperity, and protect American citizens while advancing the interests of the U.S. abroad.
