The New Jersey Department of Transportation (NJDOT) is seeking applications for candidates for the position of Building Management Services Specialist 1. The standard workweek is Monday through Friday.
The Division of Support Services provides all NJDOT employees with a safe, comfortable, effective, and efficient work environment. Support Services is responsible for the upkeep, maintenance and repair (electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, landscape, to include snow and ice removal) of the NJDOT facilities and grounds statewide, which include the Main Headquarters Complex in Ewing, Regional Headquarters Buildings, Maintenance Yards, Rest Areas, Weigh Stations, Airports and more. The Division is also responsible for the janitorial services, groundskeeping, heating, air conditioning and ventilation services, warehouse and shipping, mail room, parking and security.
Under the close supervision of a supervisor a Building Management Services Specialist 1 completes routine, analytical or other basic professional work required to support the provision of building management, operation, maintenance, security, service and/or renovation programs; does other related duties as required.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
• Participates in the completion of audits to determine and ensure compliance with policies, rules, and regulations.
• Participates in writing detailed reports, letters, and maintains records and files.
• Analyzes, collects, compiles, and reports data.
• Provides input to Unit staff for office space renovations and reconfigurations requiring the Computer Aided Design and Drafting (CADD) system.
• Create and maintain CAD drawings showing location of all employees Statewide Small Construction Projects for Ewing HQ Facilities
• Reviews current floor plans for all personnel moves and transfers throughout the DOT.
• Provides assistance and responds to queries regarding building management requests, Procurement process, mail function and other related building management services.
• Coordinate and evaluate contract vendors for all department facilities.
• Have a good working knowledge of both Excel and CADD.
REQUIREMENTS
NOTE: Applicants must meet one of the following or a combination of both experience and education. Thirty (30) semester hour credits are equal to one (1) year of relevant experience.
Five (5) years of professional experience in the coordination and/or implementation of building management programs including building/property operations analysis, program development, organizational and/or fiscal planning, and/or cost efficiency programs, special building service programs, security, or a related field.
OR
Possession of a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university; and one (1) year of the above – mentioned professional experience.
OR
Possession of a master’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration, or closely related area.

Appointee will be required to possess a driver’s license valid in New Jersey.
