
Guam Health Opportunities and Medical Exposure Program
HOME is looking for driven high school and premedical students interested in becoming a physician. Competitive applicants will demonstrate academic success, a strong interest in medicine, and a passion to help the island of Guam.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Age 16 or older
- Attend or be a graduate of an accredited high school or university
- Maintain a minimum 3.5 GPA (3.0 if a university student)
- Demonstrate a strong interest in becoming a physician
H.O.M.E. Scholars will:
- Be paired with 1 or more HOME physician mentors and spend a summer shadowing in a clinic and/or hospital setting
- Become certified in HIPAA (Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act)
- Become certified in BLS (Basic Life Support) – First Aid & CPR w/ AED
- Deliver a final presentation at the end of the program
Students must be available for:
- Shadowing for approximately 4 weeks during June and/or July (individual schedules will vary and be designed according to each physician mentor’s availability)
- Program Orientation: end of May (tentatively May 31, 2025)
- Final Presentations: end of July (tentatively July 26-27, 2025)
- Appreciation Banquet: early August (tentatively Aug 3, 2025)
