NASA Guam Space Grant Internships

NASA Guam Space Grant (NGSG) is excited to announce that applications are now available for the Fañomnåkan 2025 Undergraduate Internship Program. This program offers students a unique chance to gain invaluable experience and contribute to NASA’s goals as outlined in their Science Mission Directorate.

NGSG internships give students a platform to sharpen their skills, collaborate with professionals, and make a difference in both their careers and their communities. Applicants can choose from three available pathways:

  • Research Internship: Work alongside University of Guam (UOG) STEM faculty to develop innovative research projects in areas such as aviation, biology, engineering, oceanography, astronomy, and more.
  • Professional Internship: Step into the STEM workforce and gain practical experience in a professional setting, equipping students with skills for future careers. Available mentors include experts from organizations such as the Guam Department of Agriculture, Guam Environmental Protection Agency, 2cofly, and Bella Wings Aviation.
  • Teaching Internship: Work alongside UOG STEM faculty as a teaching intern and inspire the next generation of students while honing your educational expertise.

Why Apply?

Interns receive a $3,000 stipend per semester, with the opportunity to extend for a second semester, earning up to $6,000 per academic year. Beyond financial support, participants benefit from:

  • Mentorship: Learn from experienced faculty and professionals dedicated to your success.
  • Hands-on Experience: Engage with cutting-edge research and innovative technology.
  • Showcase Work: Present your work at the NASA Guam Research Symposium in the Spring and the Hawai’i Space Grant Symposium in the Fall.

Interns from the previous semester have engaged in fulfilling research experiences, including seagrass disease investigations and drone mapping campaigns.

Eligibility:

To qualify, applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen.
  • Be enrolled at UOG or Guam Community College with at least 6 semester hours and a minimum 3.0 GPA.
  • Secure a mentor willing to guide them throughout the program.
  • Research interns must work on STEM-related projects, though being a STEM major is not required.

This program actively encourages applications from women, underrepresented minorities (including Native Hawaiians, Pacific Islanders, Native Americans, African Americans, and Hispanics), and students with disabilities. No prior experience is needed.
