Looking for the Next Step After College? Become an Air Traffic Controller

OVERVIEW

The Federal Aviation Administration has recently announced their window for hiring Air Traffic Controllers. Air Traffic Controllers (ATCs for short) are responsible for safely coordinating air traffic for airports. The FAA will be providing applicants a paid training program in Oklahoma City where they will spend several months in the FAA Academy. Successful graduates will then be placed in locations across the country for 1-3 years for on-the-job experience before becoming a certified professional controller.

The 2024 Application for this position will be closing on November 4th, 2024.

ELIGIBILITY

Applicants must:

  • Be a U.S. citizen
  • Be registered for Selective Service, if applicable (Required for males born after 12/31/1959) 
  • Be younger than 31 years old before the closing date of the application period (with limited exceptions)
  • Have either one year of general work experience or four years of education leading to a bachelor’s degree, or a combination of both
  • Speak English clearly enough to be understood over communications equipment
  • Be willing to relocate to an FAA facility based on agency staffing needs
