The NASA Guam Space Grant (NGSG) is pleased to announce the opening of applications for the NGSG Undergraduate Internship program for the Fanuchånan 2024 semester. This program offers students a unique chance to gain invaluable experience and contribute to NASA’s goals in aeronautics and space research. Interns will enhance their academic and professional skills while engaging in projects with the potential to impact the future of STEM as they relate to NASA and our region. Interested applicants can choose from one of three available internship pathways:
- Research Internship: Engage in cutting-edge research aligned with NASA’s diverse focus areas by developing a research project under the guidance of a UOG STEM faculty member. Research areas encompass a broad range of STEM fields, such as aviation, geology, biology, oceanography, astronomy, computer science, mathematics, engineering, and more.
- Professional Internship: Immerse yourself in a professional setting, gaining practical skills and preparing for a future career in STEM fields. Available agencies for internships include 2cofly, KLARA M, Guam Environmental Protection Agency, and Guam Department of Agriculture.
- Teaching Internship: Gain valuable educational experience by serving as a teaching intern to a STEM faculty member at the University of Guam, inspiring the next generation of students.
BENEFITS
Participants will receive a stipend totaling $3,000 per semester, with an opportunity to extend into a second semester for a total of $6,000 per academic year. Interns will work closely with experienced mentors, gain hands-on experience in their chosen field, and engage with innovative technology. They will also present their research projects at the NASA Guam Research Symposium in the Spring and the Hawaii Space Grant Symposium in the Fall, showcasing their work and networking with professionals in the field
Previous students from the NASA Guam Space Grant program have embarked on remarkable academic journeys, from conducting groundbreaking environmental research to participating in internships at NASA research stations. This program provides students with a platform to enhance their education, gain practical experience, and contribute to meaningful research that benefits our unique island environment.
